Helping Families Affected By Cancer

It started with one man's leap of faith and a deal with God...

  

Cancer, Kids, and Christmas was founded in 2012 by Travis Sparks after his own battle with cancer and seeing firsthand the strain it put on his own family. He saw that without the help of family and friends, his immediate family may have felt the financial strains to the point of bankruptcy. That would have meant that there would certainly have been no Christmas that year.  


 We provide our cancer families with the majority of all monies raised through our events. With zero dollars going to administrative fees, our Board of Directors are all serving (donating their time) with no compensation from the organization. As we have grown over the years, we have gained a few expenses, but we try to keep them as minimal as possible. We do lease a room used for storage of all donated items for the events, as well as a meeting room from time to time. We have purchased insurance for any event we do with $1,000,000.00 in coverage. We have purchased a few things that help us improve our events from year to year and that will also save us money over a period time. 


 In total fundraising over the years, we have raised $106,000.00 and provided 40 families with a Christmas that cancer would have stolen away from them. The checks have ranged from $750 for one family in 2012, to fifteen checks in the amount of $2925.00 handed out to each of our area cancer families in 2017. We have grown from one event in 2012 to now having 8 to 12 events planned for this year 2018.


Cancer, Kids, and Christmas is hoping to have your support again in 2018 for the 7th Annual Cancer, Kids, and Christmas Event. We hope you can see the great benefits of our program and can donate any item(s) that we can use in our live auction or monies that can help us help these families. We can only help these families have a Christmas that they so deserve through all the great donations from businesses and supporters such as you each year. 

 

Our 2018 Main Event will be held November 9th & 10th at The Pearisburg Community Center in Pearisburg Va. We are truly looking forward to working with you to make these Christmas wishes come true once again in 2018. We hope to hear from you soon.
